This was my last lunch in St Petersburg and I opted for one of my favourite dishes - herring salad. I don't really know why I like it so much but I am hooked. The borscht was acceptable but it was a tad cold.Posted via Blogaway

Chanakhi

It is increasingly difficult to fit in 3 meals a day so today I had "dunch". I went to the Soviet Cafe and tried Chanakhi. It is a delicious soup with lamb, tomatoes, onion and aubergine. It was hearty and warming, an ideal meal in these frosty conditions. Posted via Blogaway

Potato and Salmon Salad with Average Goulash

We ate in Singer Cafe for the lovely surroundings and spectacular view. The salad was delicious and raised my hopes for the next course. However the goulash was a tad disappointing. The meat was tasty enough but the mound of buckwheat was bland.Posted via Blogaway
